This is me FAT:

This is at the 2004 ICEMAN finish. Can you see the anguish and defeated soul? I had to stop and stand for about 30 minutes to allow my leg muscles to settle down as they cramped and locked out on the trail. This was during the race and not at the end. I still remember the passing rider, "YOU'RE SO CLOSE, JUST PUSH THROUGH IT!!!!" At the end, my legs locked and I stumbled and walked straight-legged for several minutes trying to get my bearings. This incident was a near repeat of my first, and only previous ICEMAN in 1998. Although I did shave over 30 minutes off that time.
This is me HAPPY:

This is at the 2005 ICEMAN. I did well. No cramping. I remember the spectator as I bombed a decent and blew up the following uphill, "That was AWESOME!!" Still brings a smile to my face. I shaved just over 25 minutes off my 2004 result. 6 weeks prior, I was 152lbs and 5% body fat. I could tell I didn't have the endurance or fat stores to complete this long-ish race. Average rides were draining me. On race day, I was 163.5lbs and 8% body fat.
I am currently 170lbs and about 14% body fat. I added weight training to my regimen and can't seem to balance the fat %age. My goal weight by the next ICEMAN is 162lbs and 8% body fat. With the added musclature, I am not sure how I will fair.
I talked to my brother the other day and he was 127lbs and 10% body fat. He is a Cat3 roadie and Expert-level MTB'er. Plus he is on his team primarily as the main cyclocross rider. I told him he needed to gain some weight.
