So, I'm at the gym last night and I'm doing bench presses on one of those circuit machines and I set it to 87.5 lbs. Mind you that I don't have massive arms... thus the tyranasaurus comment in my profile. I am a cyclist. Three months ago, I struggled with 20 lb. dumbells. Anyhow, this really defined Mexican takes the seat after I finish wiping off the machine. I straddle the Lat machine, 3 down. I see him pump one rep. Stop and pull the pin 2 plates lighter and continue. I struck me that despite his well defined arms I could push more than he. He even sat onto the Shoulder Press machine and did 1 rep, then quit. It dawned on me that he was a specialist in the bench press... that's all he seemed to be able to do with any number of reps. Though I counted and even at the lighter weight, he did less reps that I per set.
I walked away with a smirk on my face, pressed the full stack plus an additional loose plate on the "Butt Curl" machine and proceded to do an uphill climb on the orbital XC ski machine. I felt good after that workout.
