I missed my weight goal for September 1.
I planned to hit 158 lbs and stabilize the weight for the upcoming Iceman Cometh MTB race. Nope. I clocked in this morning at 163.5 lbs, it is the 5th. I've gotten as low as 162 this year but haven't broken the 160 mark yet. Sigh. A little disappointed in myself, but I know why I missed the goal. For the last 6-8 weeks, I've been physically on a downward spiral. I can't tell if it is a mental thing or if I am in fact physically beat and plateauing. All I know is that I neither feel or am as fast as I was a few months ago when I could shed the venerable roadie Lalley in the twisty pines.
None-the-less, I happened to take a header pushing myself yesterday to catch the rest of the group (read about that here) and not only banged myself up, but my pride as well. Brad, the new young gun, is also progressing along nicely. He's now easily as fast as me and can hang with Lalley and still have a big grin on his face. Argh!
Whatever... I need to get back on track... and get running as well. That is the real missing ingredient to get me from here to there in a big hurry... I'll start that when I can laugh without pain again...
Oh, and that pain when I laugh translates to me being able to do push-ups in the AM like I have been. It may be a few days before I get all that back as well.
Current state - Fat and down in the dumps.
