I'm nearing the first major hurdle. In a week and a half I will be running the Irish Jig again. A 5K race through East Grand Rapids. This was the first event I participated in when I first lost 35lbs several years ago... and here it is again as I mount my next excursion into fitness.
There are 2 major goals I have set which are 168lbs by April 1st and 158lbs by September 1st, 2007. This weekend I just broke the 170lb barrier, turning in a 169.5lb reading after my Saturday morning run. Yeah! Speaking of my Saturday run, I cut it short. There was a major snow storm that ripped through the area and that morning, not everyone was bushy-tailed and bright-eyed so I got a great heart-killing romp through knee-deep snow drifts. I only covered 2 miles of my normal 4 miles.
I plan on running again tomorrow during lunch to get in some extra miles. I really need to get the routing going so I can build up the consistency I'll need to carry the momentum through the Spring and Summer months.
More to come, or check out my cycle-centric blog for more up-to-date vitals. For the record... I'm still fat.
